Electrical Double Layer and Phospholipid Membranes. Aspects of Interface Water Structure*
نویسنده
چکیده
It is inferred that the formation of an electrical double layer in phospholipid membranes is affected by the modified water. structure at the membrane/water interface. Theoretical evidence is presented indicating a decrease in the number density of water hydrogen bonds and the appearance of a layer of spontaneously polarized water at the solid/water interface which are the eonsequence of the orientational properties of the water structure and the asymmetric structure of the water molecule respectively. Consequences of such modifications of water structure are discussed on the basis of simple models regarding ion distribution at the interface, effect on the phospholipid chain melting phase transition temperature and the membrane-membrane interaction.

In this present study the double layers structure model of extended Korteweg-de Vries(K-dV) equation will be obtained with the help of the reductive perturbation method, which admits a double layer structure in current plasma model. Then by using of new analytical method we obtain the new exact solitary wave solutions of this equation. Double layer is a structure in plasma and consists of two p...

A solar cell is an electronic device which not only harvests photovoltaic effect but also transforms light energy into electricity. In photovoltaic phenomenon, a P-N junction is created to form an empty region. The presented paper aims at proposing a new highly efficient InGaN/Si double-junction solar cell structure. This cell is designed to be used in a real environmental situation, so only s...
متن کاملElectrical Double-Layer Structure at the Rutile-Water Interface as Observed in Situ with Small-Period X-Ray Standing Waves.
X-Ray standing wave (XSW) measurements were made of Rb and Sr adsorbed from aqueous solutions at the rutile (110)-water interface. These experiments were performed to address the extent to which direct measurements of electrical double-layer structure are possible. The experimental results show that the Bragg XSW technique, using small-period standing waves generated by Bragg diffraction from t...
متن کاملPerformance and Structure of Thin Film Composite Reverse Osmosis Membranes Prepared by Interfacial Polymerization in the Presence of Acid Acceptor
During interfacial polymerization (IP) reaction between m-phenylenediamine (MPDA) and trimesoyl chloride (TMC), a by-product, i.e. hydrochloric acid can produce. This produced acid diffuses back in aqueous phase and protonates MPDA and reduces its reactivity that results in lowering of polymer yield and performance of membrane. Further, for getting consistency in reverse...
متن کاملAdsorption of ruthenium red to phospholipid membranes.
We have measured the distribution of the hexavalent ruthenium red cation (RuR) between water and phospholipid membranes, have shown the critical importance of membrane negative surface charge for RuR binding, and determined the association constant of RuR for different phospholipid bilayers. The studies were performed with liposomes made of mixtures of zwitterionic L-alpha-phosphatidylcholine (...
